Filmmaker, Scott Metters, recently completed our media top-up degree and will be graduating with our Class of 2022 at Ramside Hall in November.
Scott progressed from our Level 3 media course to our Foundation Degree and top-up bachelors degree. During his studies, Scott has helped to produce a wide variety of marketing materials for NCD, such as event launch highlights and promo videos for our Football Development Centre鈥檚 partnership with Newcastle United Foundation.
As part of his bachelors degree, Scott worked on the short film 鈥楴o Means Nothing鈥� with cast and crew from NCD. Media graduate, James Calvert, directed the short and music graduate, Rebecca Hosey, was the creator who wrote the script for her final project. Performing arts student, Millie Isabella, starred as the main character, Rachel.
鈥楴o Means Nothing鈥� has recently been selected by Sunderland Short Films for the Young, Emerging & Student Filmmakers Award 2022. This year, the short film has also received Winner Best Short Film Jury Diamond Award at the Europe Film Festival, Winner First Time Filmmaker 4th Dimension Independent Film Festival and received a special mention at the London International Film Festival.
Scott said:
鈥淪tudying my bachelors degree at NCD was an amazing decision that has greatly expanded my knowledge of media at a professional level, thanks to the ongoing support from my tutors. Filming and producing 鈥楴o Means Nothing鈥� has been a positive challenge. Despite setbacks due to Covid-19, James, Rebecca and I have been able to push through to make a short film we are all proud to have worked on. It feels amazing that our hard work is being recognised.鈥�
Scott is currently working on promotional videos for clients, and documentaries for production companies. He continued:
鈥淚n between filming for clients and production companies, I will also be filming shorts for myself and other productions this year.鈥�
