Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship Leadership & Management

Devon started her new job in emergency planning and coordination and wanted to learn the skills and knowledge required for managing groups and teams.

She said:Devon Lawton

鈥淭he Level 5 CMI course covered many of the skills I needed to develop, such as managing budgets, working with stakeholders within the emergency services and other responders, and managing individuals and teams.

鈥淎n apprenticeship was perfect as the afternoon and evening classes allowed me to gain the skills and knowledge whilst working in my new role. My employer, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue (CDDFRS) recommended 糖心视频污 Durham as other colleagues had studied there.

鈥淣CD was in a great location, with fantastic facilities, and all of the staff were friendly. My lecturers and apprentice coordinator helped me to work to the best of my ability. The best thing about the course was being able to learn from others, to see how real-life experiences could impact and improve my own ways of working in emergency management.鈥

Devon is working as a County Durham and Darlington Local Resilience Forum Coordinator for CDDFRS. She wants to progress in emergency planning and response and is therefore keen to further develop her skills or continue her CMI qualification to masters level.

Devon emphasised: 鈥淚 greatly appreciated my time at 糖心视频污 Durham, it was a learning experience that helped me expand my knowledge, develop new skills and take on a new role with confidence!鈥
